The haps

Okay. Deciding my projects a bit more.

I will keep trying to do the web show, though it is still on a bit of a hiatus because I plan on dumping all unreleased content and generating new scripts/footage from the top.. I also can't do any work this week.

I am still planning a comic series, and it may be awhile before I actually do that particular idea.

At the moment, it is looking like I will more seriously try to produce an indie game for kicks. A bit more on that after the break.

I am creating my own version of the LSD game.

The LSD game was a surreal sort of dream simulator based on the creators dreams.. I intend to take that basic idea, and do it my way.

In her version, it was just loaded with random characters objects and maps of things from her dreams, with random generation code that'll result in odd textures and things being generated later; the more dreams you play through the more surreal it got.

The core of my game will be similar, but I want to take the idea further, and do it my way.. though admittedly that game is so simple there is nothing to really steal; you walk around and you touch things. I am just taking the overlaying idea; a dream simulator based on the dreams of the creator, in this case, me.

I wont say too much now, just that I'm forming a pretty solid idea of the kind of gameplay I wish to implement, and to help me plan the background code that'll choose what appears and how the players dream will go I will begin talking to a friend with a PhD in psychology about it in around 19 hours from now.

If all goes well, then early 2013, during a break from college, I will begin development using Unreal Engine 3.

Versatile, many high-profile games have been made with it showing clear professional interest, free to use, and commercial licenses are very affordable, so if I feel the result would be worth selling, or if people get interested in, I dunno, Youtube released videos of Alpha/Beta tests, then I could get a license and sell it easily enough.

.. and to take the extra step to make sure I can get the most out of my game, I will get a couple of Unreal Engine 3 books; made my selection. I'm pretty sure I could make a game without that, but having a book that covers the specifics of the various built-in tools would probably help me make a more robust game.
