Episode 0 of Equestria Weekly is reshot...

And now to take things into Premiere, sequence it, see if I can learn any tricks for improving the visuals, as well as clean up the audio with Audition.. I don't have much skills, but at a certain point in filming (when I plugged it into a wall outlet due to the battery getting low) a loud buzzing could be heard.. I think that should come out pretty cleanly with standard noise removal features, so I'll stick with the footage I have and hope it doesn't sound distorted in the end.

We'll see if I can get something out today or not..

Update:

Alright, sent a final text to the editor. Not expecting a response. I've picked out the best scenes, and found 28 clips to use in the video. Didn't quite like all of them, but I think it'll be alright.

Now I just need to trim out the parts of me turning the camcorder on and off between takes, and see how well I can refine things in editing.

More update:

Audition has turned out easy to use.. took all of a minute to figure out how to take an audio sample for the noise removal feature, and apply it to all the footage that required it. So all that is left is to trim the clips, level the audio, and see what sort of visual/audio filters I can try to apply that might improve things a little.

The audio levels are mostly good and don't look like they'll need a lot of work, but at some point the mic got turned a bit, so the levels of the left speaker become too low after that point.. but that'll only take a second to fix after I pinpoint between which videos this happens, so most of what is left is just figuring out the software enough to know how to trim it well, stop taking breaks to type about how I'm working on it to the blog and people I know, and then play with a few filters to see what I can do to improve it before finally uploading it to Blip and seeing what people think...

Also, after repeating the dumb reference about it a few times in the video, I find myself really wanting to watch my copy of Birdemic. I got the blu-ray but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Last update:

At the very last moment, I got word back from the editor.

He had been busy with a lot of things, and some unexpected family appeared last weekend.

Tonight after class I am going to go straight to his place, and we will have the video done before I leave, though he tells me the raw footage looks so spot on it practically needs no editing. He also had nice things to say about the lighting and consistency, and felt the visual/audio concerns that bothered me were not big enough to be a real problem.

So just a little bit longer, but it looks like it will finally, finally, finally be released tomorrow evening.

Then we shall celebrate with popcorn, and his favorite action movies.. which I will then promptly toss aside and make him watch Birdemic first.
